Hotels near Magny Cours Circuit Nevers, France

Sunday is closer than you think. Booking Accommodations / Lodging early for all the right reasons.

Those leaving their search for Hotels near Circuit Magny-Cours in Nevers France until the last minute might find Sunday just a little "too far away".

Folks who haven't been think that its just a shortage of hotels given the load on Grand Prix Weekend but there are more than 50 hotels within a 60 miles / 100km radius of the track. The real reason for the shortage is, particularly on the French GP weekend in the Summer, that the Burgundy Region is a gorgeous part of the world and a favourite vacation destination for the French. If you like travel generally, I actually would go so far as to recommend a visit when there's no race at all. Oh, the local food! Racefans for the most part, who add to the overcrowding, use the copious camping provided by the locals or, when they're done with their Saturday night party in Nevers town, hit the recliner gadget in their Auto Suite, which many not quite rival British Airways First Class but offers some port in a storm.

Last check just 3 days before the French Grand Prix 2008 - perhaps the last Formula 1 event to be held there, rumour says Le Mans or maybe Paul Ricard - there were still available rooms but all at the periphery of the 100km radius of Nevers. Click bold link above to see & book what else remains before your trip. If you're serious keen for some real roofage, or at least something with an ice machine, you might want to try options in the 200k radius like for example hotels in Orleans, Tours, Le Mans, and even hotels in Geneva or Outer Metro Paris hotels . Of course that means you'll have to think about driving through the country, heavy traffic as you get to exits before the track, or work out something with French Railways SNCF. See the map link below to get your bearings.

I've been 3 times to this destination (twice for the Summer race) and once for the SBK event much later in the year. Both times in June it was never less than 40 degrees celcius on raceday. Once track workers even had to hose down the crowd. Dress in layers. Be prepared for some real heat. (Having said that it'll probably rain!) There is no sea breeze at Magny Cours. It ain't Phillip Island or Misano.
